Bio

Mark was born to Russell, a Canadian diplomat, and Chloe, an architectural writer, McKinney. Since his dad was a diplomat Mark and his siblings spent most of their childhood traveling with him. Mark's younger brother, Nick, is also a comedian and appeared on the short lived Comedy Central sketch comedy show The Vacant Lot. You can see Nick as a patron in a KITH sketch, where Mark interrupts a fight between Bruce and his girlfriend. Mark attended a number of schools in cities around the world while traveling with his father, including Trinidad, Paris, and Washington D.C. He met Bruce McCulloch at the Loose Moose Theater Company, and the two joined with two other comedians to form the comedy troupe The Audience which performed at Theatresports. Later, Mark moved with Bruce to Toronto and met Dave and Kevin. They combined to form The Kids In the Hall. Currently Mark and his family live in New York City.

 

Trivia

•  Mark's brother is Nick McKinney- former Vacant Lot member and writer/producer for such shows as Michael Moore's The Awful Truth and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
•  Mark won the 1989 Cable Ace Award for Actor in a comedy and he won the 2000 Genie for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for Dog Park. Mark was nominated for the 1990 Cable Ace Award for Actor in a comedy and also for a 2000 Canadian Comedy Award for his performance in Dog Park.
